History

We want children to understand what history is, why it is taught, and how past events have shaped the world we live in today. Through engaging and meaningful lessons, we aim to bring history to life and help children make connections between the past and the present.

We want our children to enjoy learning about key historical events and develop a natural curiosity about the past. Our history curriculum inspires pupils to become inquisitive, independent learners who ask questions, explore ideas, and continue to deepen their understanding beyond the classroom.

Each topic is driven by a big question, with carefully planned and well-sequenced lessons that support children in building knowledge and answering the overarching enquiry. We aim to take children on a journey through time, exploring history through a range of historical lenses, including cultural developments, co-operation and conflict, religion, technology, and significant individuals.

Through this approach, children develop a secure understanding of the past and how it continues to influence our lives today.
