Trumpington Park – Sports Funding Impact 2024/25

At Trumpingon Park Primary, PE and sports provision sit at centre of our provision as we know it is essential that at primary school we give ALL children opportunities and experiences to love sport and exercise, developing a healthy attitude for life.  Our team have worked hard to ensure that there are many, varied physical opportunities and that a high percentage of children are able to represent the school.   See below for a snapshot of our focus in the academic year 2024-2025.

Trumpington Park has achieved a lot with their funding streams this year. Living Sport (through a DfE initiative) funded our swimming offer in the Autumn and allowed us to ensure every child in KS2 had 6 weeks of free swimming lessons as well as Y2 also being offered a parent paid after school swim club once a week during this time. We also enjoyed some regular, small SEND sessions.

Our Sport Premium funding allowed us to attend 23 different sporting festivals and competitions as well as help providing equipment and sports kit for 14 after school fixtures with different schools. This has meant that 74% of our KS2 children have had the opportunity to represent the school at a sports event of some kind.

It has helped us staff and equip 15 different extra-curricular sports clubs as well as support 5 other outside provider clubs over the year. This has meant we have had over 65% of all children taking part in a sports club of some sort and with over 68% of Pupil Premium children also being included.

Finally, it has helped to support our PE curriculum offer through staff CPD and release time for our PE Specialist to ensure we have a high-quality offer for all our young people. All these things help us recognise the achievement and successes of our children with weekly certificates and end of year sports awards which all help establish a sporting culture at Trumpington Park which motivates and inspires younger children to want to emulate these achievements.

The culmination of all of these combined efforts and opportunities have helped us as a school achieve School Games Mark Gold Award for the 3rd year running.

We got gold!
