Music
We believe music should be an integral part of our school community both within and beyond the curriculum. Exposure to music and opportunities to compose, practise and perform can boost pupils’ well-being, creativity, and resilience. Our curriculum builds in opportunities for all pupils to play a range of instruments and develop their skills reading sheet music. Our curriculum also exposes children to a range of cultures and a diverse music history. This impacts the whole school culture – with music playing a role in the classroom, the playground, and beyond, creating a sense of celebration, joy, and community. Music is a subject where all children can experience great success, developing both confidence and explicit oracy skills. As such, we aim to provide regular opportunities for children to showcase their skills, talents, and hard work in music, whether in music lessons, assemblies, or our annual Meridian Trust arts showcase.
